Starlink, the satellite internet service owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, experienced a short-lived disruption on Monday, with thousands of users reporting connectivity issues on Downdetector.
This marks the second outage in just two weeks. SpaceX has yet to comment, but the incident follows a longer disruption on July 24, which lasted several hours. At the time, Michael Nicolls, SpaceX’s VP of Starlink Engineering, attributed the failure to critical internal software that underpins the network.
The July issue came shortly after T-Mobile launched its Starlink-powered direct-to-cell service, designed to keep smartphones connected in remote areas beyond the reach of traditional cell towers.
According to SpaceX, Starlink now serves more than six million users in 140 countries, though the company does not publicly disclose churn or subscription growth rates.
