🔥 Sam Altman Launches a New Era for ChatGPT: Apps That Talk Back!

During OpenAI’s annual developer conference in San Francisco, Sam Altman unveiled a revolutionary feature that allows ChatGPT to run external applications directly within the chat window. This means users can now talk and interact with third-party apps as if those apps truly understand them.

According to Wired, OpenAI is offering limited access to a new software development kit (SDK) that enables external apps to work inside ChatGPT. For now, this access is restricted to select major developers such as Canva, Zillow, and Spotify.

In a live demo, OpenAI software engineer Alexi Christakis showcased how the feature works. He asked Canva to design posters for a dog-walking project, then requested a presentation to help raise funds for it. Later, he asked ChatGPT to suggest a suitable city to launch the project — and it recommended St. Petersburg. From there, Christakis asked Zillow to find available properties in the area and refined the list directly through ChatGPT.

Altman also revealed that OpenAI plans to allow developers to monetize their apps inside ChatGPT in the near future — through direct purchases or in-app advertising — aiming to create a self-contained ecosystem that keeps users within the platform.

Nick Turley, ChatGPT’s product lead, summed it up best: the company’s ultimate goal is to build a “super assistant,” not just another chatbot.
