Nvidia is still the top choice for gaming GPUs, but gamers may soon face even higher prices. According to MEGAsizeGPU, Nvidia has reportedly cut graphics card shipments to its board partners by 15%–20%.
This reduction is expected to push prices even higher. The GPU market is already in a difficult state, with many gamers struggling to afford new hardware. With less supply available, retailers will likely raise prices even further.
The crisis may worsen before it improves. Buyers could face shrinking stock and steadily rising prices for a long period, making the graphics card market more painful than ever.
Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 50 (Blackwell) lineup is especially hard to afford. In just three months, prices have surged dramatically. The RTX 5080 is now up by around 35%, while the flagship RTX 5090 has increased by a massive 79%.
AMD has also seen price hikes across its Radeon RX 9700 (RDNA 4) series, but its increases remain lower than Nvidia’s, making AMD a more attractive option for budget-focused gamers.
Intel stands out as the only company offering some relief. Its Arc B-series (Battlemage) cards are actually getting cheaper, with the Arc B580 dropping by about 4% and the Arc B570 by roughly 9%.
MEGAsizeGPU also claims that Nvidia may not release any new GeForce cards until 2027. It is unclear whether this refers to a delayed RTX 50 refresh or the next RTX 60 series, but either scenario suggests fewer new options for gamers in the near future.
For now, gamers are advised to take care of their current hardware. Those who must upgrade may find better value in AMD’s RDNA 4 or Intel’s Battlemage lineup, which currently offer the most stability in a very tough market.
